Ulysse Nardin BLAST 2023

Ulysse Nardin brings the new BLAST Freewheel. The Ulysse Nardin Liberty Wheel is a tourbillon watch. The original version came out in 2018. The early Freedom Wheel had a relatively simple appearance design. This year, Athens redesigned the Freedom Wheel and added it to the BLAST series https://www.aomwatches.is/.

The biggest feature of the Ulysse Nardin BLAST Free Wheel is that all important components of the movement, including the tourbillon, are located above the dial, while the movement’s travel time transmission gear train and gear shaft are hidden below the dial. This brings about an effect of "floating" the tourbillon and other components on the dial, which is unique among famous watches. It can be seen that the 12 o'clock position on the disk is a huge barrel, the 4 o'clock position on the disk is the watch's power display, and the 8 o'clock position on the disk is a planetary reduction gear used to control the watch's power display. The Tourbillon of the Liberty Wheel uses Athens' unique constant-force escapement, which uses one-piece elastic silicon components to control the pallet fork to obtain stable torque.

The appearance of the new Ulysse Nardin BLAST Freewheel has been greatly improved. The dial of the watch is inlaid with 103 silicon wafers as decoration. BLAST’s iconic “folding” lugs are used and connected to the watch bottom cover (18K white gold) to support the huge transparent sapphire case, which is very shocking. In terms of watch style, the new BLAST Freewheel adds sports elements and can be equipped with tape. Compared with the first generation, it is more sporty and cool.
